What started as an idea over 3 years ago at one of our monthly meetings, has finally come to fruition. We recently celebrated the grand opening of the STEM Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) for the 2019-2020 school year, funded by PHF.
Thanks to the support and generous donations of our Henry community, our school was able to:
Purchase equipment and supplies for the Lab
Purchase lesson plans and kits (English and Spanish) from Engineering is Elementary, an award-winning curriculum by Museum of Science in Boston.
Provide teacher training from an Engineering is Elementary trainer.
STEM Education immerses students in analysis, discovery, problem solving and creativity through problem-based learning. With problem-based learning, these students have the opportunity to be risk takers, critical thinkers and innovators by solving real-world challenges in the lab. By working through a combination of learning strategies, students discover the nature of a problem, understand the variables involved and gain new perspectives.
STEM Lab Volunteers
Volunteering in the STEM Lab is a great way to meet teachers and help foster the love of STEM in our kids as you assist them with fun, hands-on activities. A VIPS badge is required.
